Driving the highway

From Maryland

All around

Seeing lovely

Shades of green:

Fern, forest, pine.

Rolling hills of green,

Hints of blue

From the sunlight,

Bouncing off the leaves.

Stopping in history,

Harper’s Ferry,

Blanketed by flowing waters

The confluence –

The Shenandoah and the Potomac.

Sacred ground

To honor those who died

From that raid

Long ago.

A quaint town,

Preserved.

A state…

Picturesque…

This is West Virginia…
